The Hotel Romantic is a hotel turned into a three star hotel on its last CABO HOTELS refurbishment, located on the sea-front in Pollensa’sBay.
This emblematic hotel has been open for more than 30 years, which made it difficult to refurbish it.
We’ve been working in Hotel Romantic for three winter seasons, since 2012 to 1015.
The first two years the interventions were made to sanitize the building making a new roof to avoid filtrations and removing the existing pathologies due to the buildings’ age.
All those things couldn’t be seen by the guests, so the next step was to make a complete overhaul of the hotel to get to make it modern, improving its category and adding a restaurant to the already existing Bar.
This overhaul had been made in 5 months. Eachof the 78 rooms and bathrooms have been refurbished (nine of them are suites), the first floor where the guests dining room is, the hall, the bar reception, the restaurant and the public bathrooms.
In this overhaul promoted by Cabot Hotels, Felip Polar and Laura Leycke have worked as interior designers, just like project management taken by the architect and the technician to check on the technical matters.
The results are: fluid, big and luminous spaces mixed with warm materials and classic furniture, all of it surrounded by modern structures that achieve balance between the modern and the classic.
As the main part of the project it must be said that the floor treatment in this case is unique and in a big scale, and can be seen in the Bar Restaurant either in the interior or the exterior, executed carefully to give a one piece sensation.
The interior distribution has a big central bar that divides the functional space in two; bar and restaurant.
The Hall and the Bar have been separated with a screen made of a Majorcan shutters and the warmth of the space has been made with a floor change using natural pine wood.
The Hotel Romantic’s façade has kept its palms which hold its magnificent new terrace. A metallic and natural wicker pergola gives a new perspective to the Hotel’s façade.
This terrace is divided in two environments to have a fresh and Mediterranean restaurant on one side and on the other side a terrace-bar used as a Chill Out.
In the façadesside area, with the same materials and structural resources, the designers have made a direct and independent access to the hotel’s reception.
The rooms have been refurbished using a wood imitation pavement on the floor, baths have been replaced by more functional shower plates, with a small washing unit, tilling the bathrooms with white tiles to givemore luminosity andthe sensation of space. Everything re-decorated in a base of fresh, simple, timeless and elegant furniture.
