Today, it’s a big trend. But it has been practiced in Mallorca for centuries. And that had a very simple reason: people had to rely on the materials that were available on the island for construction. Wood from the pine forests, stones from the Tramuntana mountains, clay, sand, gravel etc.
Today we still use these natural building materials, because they are lasting, close at hand and don’t require high energy consumption in production. And of course they are easy to recycle.
But ecological building goes much further with us. From state-of-the-art insulation materials and new technologies for energy-efficient heating and air conditioning to 100% passive (energy neutral) buildings.
